Data & Solutions Architect

The Data and Digital Solutions Architect will play a crucial role in supporting our IT strategy, enhancing capabilities of our data and solutions architecture, data governance, BI & reporting, automation, and systems integration, working closely with key business leaders to support them in accelerating their business through data & insights. A key aspect of this role involves supporting the execution of our digital roadmap and AI initiatives, you’ll be pivotal in assessing our current tools and capabilities to build and execute the digital roadmap.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data & Analytics

•Data Architecture: Develop and maintain an enterprise data architecture, ensuring data is structured, stored, and utilised effectively across the organisation. Own and implement data platform and data tools feeding from data sources.

•Data Quality Governance: Support the business in ensuring data quality standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of corporate data and ensuring standards conform to regulatory requirements.

•BI & Reporting: Lead and coordinate the development of business intelligence and reporting activities across the business, providing critical insights to drive decision-making and performance improvements.

•Data & AI: Support the execution of the Digital Roadmap and AI strategy, ensuring the data landscape and architecture are optimised for introduction of new digital capability, AI and machine learning projects.

Solution Architecture and System Integration

• Solution Architecture: Design robust IT solutions that support the business objectives, leveraging a structured

approach to architecture design.

• Automation and Integration: Identify automation opportunities and ensure seamless integration of systems,

enhancing operational efficiency and data exchange.

• Application Portfolio & Lifecycle Management: Oversee the management of our application portfolio, ensuring

applications are optimised, relevant, and aligned with our business lifecycle and IT strategy.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Demand and Requirements Management: Liaise with business units to prioritise IT requests and translate them

into actionable solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and supporting functional goals.

• Vendor Engagement: Oversee & manage third-party vendors providing implementation and software

development services, ensuring their contributions align with our specific architectural requirements.

• Project Management: When required lead and manage projects related to role.

 

Competencies

•Proven experience in a similar role, commercially minded with a strong background in IT and data management.

•Expertise in designing and implementing data and solution architectures.

•Experience in BI, reporting, and data governance, with a strong understanding of data quality principles.

•Previous roles in architecting and engineering data analytics platforms, SQL Servers, Data lakes, DBT transformations, and ETL processes would be beneficial.

•Understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform (including Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate).

•Familiarity with automation tools and practices, as well as systems integration techniques.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.

•Experience supporting AI and machine learning initiatives would be an advantage.

•Experience in working on ERP requirements and implementation teams. Specific knowledge of SAP S4/Hana would be beneficial.

•Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time management skills.

•Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

•Experience of managing IT projects.

•Experience in a highly regulated industry is desirable.

•Willingness to travel, both UK and internationally as needed.
