Furosemide, Ramipril, Metoclopramide, Clonazepam and Gabapentin approved for enteral tube administration

Five oral liquid medicines from Rosemont have now been approved for administration via nasogastric (NG) or percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes. The five licensed medicines are FRUSOL® (furosemide) Oral Solutions 20mg/5ml, 40mg/5ml & 50mg/5ml, Ramipril Oral Solution 2.5mg/5ml, Metoclopramide Hydrochloride Oral Solution 5mg/5ml, Clonazepam 0.5mg/5ml, 2mg/5ml Oral Solutions and the most recent Gabapentin 50mg/ml Oral Solution.

Most medications administered to patients via tubes are not licensed for administration in this way which poses potential risks for patients, prescribers, dispensers and those administering the medicine. The licensing of Rosemont’s liquid furosemide, ramipril, metoclopramide and clonazepam for tube administration will help improve patient safety and negate the risks associated with unlicensed medicines for healthcare professionals.
